Financial infrastructure for specialty finance companies, strengthened by someone who's actually sat in the seat.
When growth outpaces your team, a Controller walks out the door, or the audit notice arrives, that is where I step in.
Do Any of These Sound Familiar?
Your business is growing — which is a good problem to have, until the financial infrastructure holding it up starts to show the strain.
Your Controller just resigned, retired, or gave notice, and now you’re the one holding reporting together until someone new is in the seat.
A regulatory exam is on the calendar, or an institutional investor just opened due diligence, and you’re not entirely sure everything will hold up the way it needs to.
You’ve quietly stopped fully trusting the numbers in front of you — not because anyone did anything wrong, just because the team, the systems, and the processes haven’t kept pace with how big this has gotten.
You know it all needs attention. What you don’t have is the extra set of experienced hands — someone who’s actually done this before — to fix it without slowing the business down.
… That’s exactly where I step in. Let’s talk.
“I don’t advise from the sidelines — I step in and do the work myself. Whether that means serving as your interim Controller while you find the right hire (or cover for a long leave of absence) or partnering as your fractional CFO, my focus will always be your firm’s financial infrastructure your investors, regulators, and leadership can actually depend on.”
– Angela Lynn, Fractional CFO | Founder
The Proof - Not the Pitch.
I started as a Financial Analyst and worked my way up — Controller, Vice President, Executive Vice President, President — inside a nationwide private-money lending organization. I’m not theorizing about your world — I’ve run it.
Three California DRE audits, DFPI examinations rated Satisfactory, and an SEC inquiry into a Rule 506(c) offering — all closed with zero findings.
Took a distressed REO asset through judicial foreclosure and receivership to $126,000 in annual profit within 18 months.
Who I Work With
I work with privately held specialty finance companies — private lenders, mortgage funds, bridge lenders, debt funds, and commercial real estate finance firms.
Most of my clients are headquartered in California or have significant California operations, since that’s where my regulatory experience runs deepest — DRE, DFPI — though I also work with organizations elsewhere in the Western U.S.
This is a fit if your business is scaling faster than your financial infrastructure, you’re facing a regulatory exam or investor due diligence, you’re navigating a Controller transition, or things are simply going well and you need an experienced extra set of hands to keep it that way.
If you fit this mold … and ready for some relief … let’s chat!
Why I Do This Work
Financial infrastructure isn’t something I learned from a textbook — I learned it living inside the rollercoaster of raising capital from California investors and deploying it into commercial real estate loans nationwide, where every reporting decision affected whether investors trusted us with their hard-earned money.
I’ve had the sleepless nights and the 3am wake-ups to send myself an email so I wouldn’t forget that “thought”. I’ve been the first one in and the last one to leave, with vacations that amounted to a Sunday here and there, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with auditors and regulators through every review.
This is why I do this work.
To be the extra set of hands when time is short and the goals are big. I’ve been there. I’ve lived it. Now I offer that same step-in solution — the confidence to meet leadership’s expectations, satisfy regulators and investors, and build a team you can trust.

Behind the Business.
Straight talk, the real deal, and standards I hold myself to — I’ve been told they’re high, and I’m okay with that.
Outside the office, my greatest joy is family. These days that’s an empty nest: Mike and I have a blended family, and our three kids — Lexi, Matthew, and Zander (aka “Z”) — have all flown the coop, which just means Mike (self-appointed Chief Travel Strategist) has more excuses to get us on a plane instead. We chronicle the trips on Between Departures — if you want proof I unplug as hard as I work, that’s where to find it.
Daily operations around here, though, the real bosses are still our two pups, Payton and Ms. Marley — they take me right back to school schedules, lunches, and daycare.
Work-life balance. Isn’t that what we all want?
